Sleep is killing me
VentI get decent sleep. But when I wake up I still feel tired, and even hours later my eyes are tired and sometimes red. I can't focus. Then I decide, okay, maybe I need more sleep, and I try to sleep, and I can't. It's a never ending cycle.
It's hard to fall asleep, but once I'm asleep, that's it, I'm dead for a few hours. Even after that my eyes feel tired and my mind feels tired. Am I the only one? What should I do? Someone help me out.
Could be a huge range of things. Either your sleep quality is consistently bad, or, more likely, you have something else entirely that has exhaustion as a symptom. Anemia, to take a shot in the dark.
When did you last talk to a doctor about this?
I haven't seen a doctor for this. But when I went in for another general issue I asked them about it, and they said I should stop using my phone.
Get checked for sleep apnea. Get a sleep test.
A sleep test? I'm hearing about it for the first time. What do they do?
Felt this. I used to chase more sleep whenever I woke up foggy, then lie there frustrated when it wouldn't come.
What helped was treating the morning fog as separate from sleep debt. A fixed wake time, a bit of outdoor light, and stopping the nap negotiation loop. Some days still feel heavy, but the cycle loosened once I stopped treating more time in bed as the only fix.
It's mostly about whether you work out, what your night routine is and what job you do. If you don't work out, over time you'll feel less energetic. Do you sit most of the day at your job? Mine is driving and manual labour. And at night, are you on your phone five minutes before bed, or do you sit in the dark for an hour so your body can adjust? For me, 10pm was the golden rest time.
In college I had the same problem, and now I'm working night shifts and it's the same. I don't work out because I can't set aside the time, and I get exhausted pretty quickly with this simple schedule as it is.
It's pretty much a cycle. I try to sleep without my phone, I can't sleep, I pick up my phone, then I stop, try again, can't sleep again, pick up my phone again. And repeat.
So true. And what even is sleep quality? I constantly feel drained even after 10 plus hours of sleep, and I don't know why.
