I feel like I visibly aged when I turned 32
QuestionMy 20s were just gradual maturing, but in my early 30s it looked like I visibly aged right away. Volume loss in my face without losing body weight, deeper folds, my face got a little droopy, and I look tired most of the time even when I get enough sleep, with eye bags and dark circles. My hair looks less dense too.
Now, two years later, I don't feel like I've aged much more, but I also haven't improved from that early 30s hit. Is this a common experience? And if so, when do we get the next aging hit, so to say?
Yeah. Around 31 I literally felt like I aged 5 years all of a sudden. I've heard it happens again in your late 40s, but I'm sure it varies.
I do hope the next one is when I'm like 49.
I'm 33 and I've noticed some small changes. I just try to remember that some change is normal as we get wiser. I try not to obsess, because I'm already prone to body dysmorphia. I feel better when I focus on self care and being happy and balanced in life.
I love 'as we get wiser' instead of 'as we get older'.
I like your mindset. We definitely have to learn to love ourselves whether we're aging or not.
Honestly, same. I'm recently 32, and over the last year I noticed something was off. I assume it's volume loss. When I smile, the skin on my cheeks bunches up into crepey folds. I've always had purple circles under my eyes and some fine lines, but keeping alcohol to a minimum and drinking lots of water used to help. Now nothing seems to help and my under eyes look worse.
I'm very active and barely drink. Lots of water and veggies. I use SPF. But I'm still seeing so much change happen so quickly.
Right? You're doing everything right and it still just happens. The crepey cheek thing when smiling is exactly what got me too. I barely drink, stay active, wear SPF religiously, and yet. It's humbling, honestly.
Your 30s are when your past starts to catch up with you. You have to take care of yourself, otherwise things like heavy drinking, smoking, sleep deprivation, a poor diet and no exercise really start to show.
For me, when I'm not getting enough sleep and rest, I feel it and I look it, but I tend to bounce back when I get enough sleep for a longer stretch. It's tough because of life, but treat yourself to a lot of sleep and rest whenever you can.
At 33, after I had a baby, I felt like I aged so much. I have dark circles and lines under my eyes, and my hair has thinned out a lot. It's jarring to look at photos from when I was 31 compared to 33.
Yes. I only have one and she's in pre-K, so I'm getting plenty of sleep and things are easier, but I still look so tired.
Mine was somewhere between 37 and 38. I just look exhausted all the time these days. I think the next wave is supposed to hit in the mid forties.
36 hit me hard and fast. I started injections, red light and retinol, got serious about sleep and hydration, and here I am at 40 looking better than I did in my early 30s.
I can vouch for the red light. The results are subtle and take consistency to notice, but it works. Don't expect magic, of course. And sleep is a no brainer.
Same here. As soon as I hit 33 I feel like I lost a lot of fat around my eyes. I'm lucky not to have many wrinkles, but I just feel like I look older. One thing I noticed, in case it applies to anyone: the post processing on my phone camera makes me look older than I actually am. I look younger in the mirror and in videos.
I'm so glad you said this. Sometimes I see a photo of myself and I'm like, what, compared to the mirror.
